Unit Transfer Course Equivalence List
(Semester Exchange Programmes)

  1. The below list contains samples of course equivalence from Semester 2 of AY 2020-21 to Semester 2 of AY 2021-22.

  2. Course equivalence is determined by the academic content, materials covered, scope and assessment of the course, and no. of contact hours involved. The College reserves the right to grant units for courses which are deemed to be equivalent to the College courses.

  3. For European partners who adopt the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), their units will be calculated as: 2 ECTS units equal to 1 UIC unit. If a course falls short of the required number of ECTS for transfer, students can combine one or more courses of the same discipline to make up the unit deficiency.

Unit Transfer from Overseas Summer Study

If students are planning to attend overseas summer programme and would like to apply for unit transfer back to UIC, please note the following guidelines:

  1. Courses already taken at UIC with a pass grade or above are not transferable;

  2. Final Year Projects cannot be taken during summer study;

  3. Not all units earned at overseas institutions are guaranteed for transfer.

  4. All courses approved for transfer/exemption must follow the College policy on course category alignment.

  5. Units transferred from other institutions (except HKBU) are recorded without inclusion in grade point average calculation. Students should not retake course for which transfer units have been granted.

  6. For more info on the unit transfer policy, please refer to the Clause 9 of the General Regulations for Undergraduate Degree Programmes.

  7. Please consult your Programme Director for course selection, if necessary.
