Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an overview of research methods that are currently used in business and to develop in the students a strong capacity to grasp the complexity of inquiry into theoretical and applied business problems. The objectives are to introduce students to the theoretical and analytical issues which are shaping contemporary business research thinking and practice, to address the key components which might comprise the essential elements of conducting research in an applied business setting, and to provide opportunities for students to engage in survey, case analyses, experiential exercises and library research which are aimed at skill development in conducting research.


Course Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to

· Explain the significance of research in an organisational context and identify the main components of business research methods;

· Conduct archival research by using online and printed sources/materials and evaluate the previous literature;

· Design an appropriate research method for a research question to propose research hypotheses and interpret the rationale for such a choice;

· Develop a research proposal and compare the different nature and findings in the study with previous literature.

A student who is currently studying for a bachelor degree.

GFQR (GE Level 1 - Quantitative Reasoning) course


Course Fee

  1. RMB5,000 for BNBU, HKBU and HKCHC students;

  2. RMB7,500 for the students from other colleges/ universities.


Accomodation Fee

  1. BNBU students (Non-graduates): RMB10/ Person/ Day

  2. BNBU graduates: RMB60/ Person/ Day

  3. HKBU, HKCHC and other students: RMB60/ Person/ Day


Note: The standard fee for summer accommodation in student hostel for 2026 is subject to final confirmation.
