Course Description

This course is intended for complete beginners in French according to the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) Level A1 (Part 1). It aims at developing basic knowledge in the four areas of competence (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and developing students linguistic, communicative and cultural competence in the target language.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to

· Apply grammar, vocabulary and expressions according to the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) of French Level A1 (Part 1);

· Comprehend basic oral information in familiar contexts, for example general information about name, nationality, profession, address and phone number;

· Communicate in a basic conversation in French with appropriate expressions and correct pronunciation;

· Write simple texts, for example dialogues, messages, postcards and e-mails referring to present situations.

A student who is currently studying for a bachelor degree.

Course Fee

1. RMB5,000 for BNBU, HKBU and HKCHC students;

2. RMB7,500 for the students from other colleges/ universities.

Accomodation Fee

1. BNBU students (Non-graduates): RMB10/ Person/ Day

2. BNBU graduates: RMB60/ Person/ Day

3. HKBU, HKCHC and other students: RMB60/ Person/ Day

Note: The standard fee for summer accommodation in student hostel for 2026 is subject to final confirmation.
