Academic Dishonesty


  1. Students who are found to have committed an act of academic dishonesty such as plagiarism, submission of material(s) for assessment which is not the student's own work, the use of fabricated or copied data, shall receive an “F” grade for the course. In addition, the case may also be submitted to the Student Disciplinary Committee for further action.




  2. Cheating is one form of academic dishonesty which is defined as acting dishonestly in order to gain an advantage during examinations/tests/quizzes.

    Any student found engaging in any form of cheating during examinations will be referred to the Student Disciplinary Committee for investigation and recommendation. The recommendation must be given to the Senate for final approval. The students concerned could be disqualified from the course or that part of assessment. 


    Students who are found cheating during test/quiz or other similar summative assessments will be dealt with by the Course Offering Unit. If the circumstance is serious, the case shall be referred to the Student Disciplinary Committee for further action. 




  3. Other than cheating, if a student is found engaging in more serious or repeated offences, he/she shall be given an F grade for the whole course and disciplinary action may be sought from the Student Disciplinary Committee.




  4. If the person convicted of academic dishonesty is a graduate of the College, and the academic dishonesty was contained in the academic work required for the degree, the College may revoke the degree award and all certificates.
