There is GPA requirement for the minor programme.  A student, in order to graduate with a minor, has to:

1. fulfill all college general requirements; and

   
   

2. pass all courses required in the major and minor programmes; and

   
   

3. attain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all the courses attempted for the minor programme; and

   
   

4. attain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all the courses attempted.

Students satisfying the graduation requirements of the Major Programme but failing to satisfy the Minor requirements will graduate with the Major only. NO extension of the study period will be allowed for such students for the purpose of fulfilling the Minor requirements.

Students who have satisfied the Minor Programme requirements but failed to satisfy the graduation requirements of the Major Programme CAN NOT graduate with the Minor Programme only.

Transfer courses may serve to fulfil the minor programme requirement but the number of transfer units allowed for a minor programme will not be more than 6 units.

Owing to limits on class quota set by Course Offering Units, please note that you will NOT be guaranteed a place for any minor course you wish to take. Successful enrolment on Minor courses is subject to limitations on course quota, class schedule, etc.

Students who have successfully accumulated 15 units required by the Minor Programme may apply for graduation with Minor in March of your final year. The Academic Registry will send e-mail to all final year students to invite application for graduation with a Minor Programme in due course.

No prior declaration of intention to take a minor is needed with immediate effect. On the other hand, you are invited to keep us posted of your intention from time to time by filling in “Survey about your Intention to Take a Minor Programme” (click here) so that the academic departments can take it as a reference for planning and adjusting course offerings.

For those students who have declared a Minor before, please adjust your choice as needed and we will remind you to apply for graduation with a Minor Programme in March of your final year.

A course cannot be double-counted as a Major and Minor course at the same time. There are 4 scenarios:

1. If a Major required course is also listed under your Minor required courses, the units you gained on this course will serve to satisfy your major unit requirement only. It will NOT be counted towards the Minor Programme, and you have to choose another course under the list of minor elective courses to fulfil the minor unit requirement.

2. If a Major required course is also listed under your Minor elective courses, the units you gained on this course will serve to satisfy your major unit requirement only. It will NOT be counted towards the Minor Programme, and you have to choose another course under the list of minor elective courses to fulfil the minor unit requirement.

3. If a Minor required course is also listed under your Major elective courses, the units you gained from this course will serve to satisfy your minor unit requirement only. It will NOT be counted towards the Major Programme, and you have to choose another course under the list of major elective courses to fulfil the major unit requirement.

4. If a Minor elective course is also listed under your Major elective courses, you may use it to fulfil either your minor or your major unit requirement.

NO certificate will be issued by the College for Minor programme(s), the completed Minor will be recorded on the academic transcript only.
