Course Description

This course introduces mathematical rigor and basic ideas and techniques in single variable calculus so that students can master mathematics. It provides the foundation for more advanced mathematical and statistical courses.


Course Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to

· Calculate limits, derivatives, and integrals of functions in one variable, and check the convergence of sequences, series and power series;

· Use formal definition of limits to prove theorem, and apply Mean Value Theorem and related theorem to solve mathematical problems.

A student who is currently studying for a bachelor degree.

  2. RMB7,500 for the students from other colleges/ universities.


Accomodation Fee

  1. UIC students (Non-graduates): RMB10/ Person/ Day

  2. UIC graduates: RMB60/ Person/ Day

  3. HKBU, HKCHC and other students: RMB60/ Person/ Day


Note: The standard fee for summer accommodation in student hostel for 2025 is subject to final confirmation.
